Weekend

Weekend's are just the best, aren't they!? Its your time to do whatever the heck you feel like doing. Whatever it is that fills you up & puts a smile on your face - do it! Me & Adam are lucky in the sense that we don't live by the 9-5 schedule but we sure do soak up our weekends together. Our weekends are made up of everything we love...
+ snuggly sleep ins & long mornings full of coffee & a yummy breakfast + something active whether it be boxing, yoga, a long walk, a bike ride - just whatever we're feeling that day. Bike rides & walks tend to lead to a patio (if the weather is nice), lunch & mimosas. (ha!) + date night out / stay in and cook and drink wine...there's always wine. and music. 
I'm holding on to this weekend extra tight, as I just dropped Adam off at the airport to catch a flight for Iceland. He will be gone for the next 6-8 weeks filming his latest film & my schedule has been kinda crazy lately so I'm not quite sure when I'll be able to go see him. Needless to say, it was a tearful afternoon. Sometimes I think this whole Adam leaving thing will gets easier, but it actually just keeps getting tougher. ugh :(
When I'm home solo, I spend extra time with my parents - even have the occasional sleep over - my sister, niece & nephews and get in some extra girl time.  

Any way...speaking of the weekend, how cute is this weekend sweatshirt (currently only available in "Rosy Rose") that I got at Target!? Its from a fun brand called Grayson + Threads. I get so many compliments on this sweatshirt & it is THEE softest, you guys! Depending on what we have going on, you'll catch me running around in something resembling athleisure (shocker, I know!) while doing our weekend things. Pulling on a comfy pair of black tights or black skinny jeans + a cute & cozy graphic shirt/sweatshirt - they are just thing for kicking around town in the cutest way!

7 Ways to Stay Healthy, Fit & Motivated This Winter

I don't know about you guys, but when it comes to Winter, my drive to workout just doesn't run as strong as the rest of the year. Cold & grey, short days aren't exactly high on my motivation list, if ya know what I mean!? Since I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this feeling, I thought it would be fun to share some personal tips to help keep you healthy, fit & motivated throughout those dreaded winter months!
 Luckily, here in Charlotte, we do have fairly mild winters, and, we get these random 70° days that I absolutely live for & boy do they help get me through the winter, but I know other parts of the country aren't this lucky when it comes to winter weather and some even have to stick it out all the way up to April - bless you, people. This Florida girl would never survive! 
Of course these tips below can be use to stay motivated & on track all year round, so bookmark this post if you like and/or share it with a friend if you know of anyone who might need a little extra FitSpiration! xx


{ 7 Ways to Stay Healthy, Fit & Motivated This Winter }

PRIORITIZE YOUR HEALTH, WORKOUTS & WELL-BEING
Its so easy to makes excuses & allow everything else on your calendar to take priority causing  your workouts slip by the wayside. Trust me when I say, 1-2 days of missed workouts can very easily turn into 3,4 or 5 missed days and before you know it, you've completely fallen off the workout wagon. You absolutely do not want this to happen. Even if its just 30 minutes, allot "me time" in your calendar to ensure you do NOT miss your workout. If you know your the type of person to let your day get away from you and before you know it you have no time/its too late to workout, I highly recommend getting your sweat on first thing in the morning before your day & all your commitments get the best of you. 
You will have more energy & feel better all around, as well as be better for others in your life. 

THINK OF EXERCISE AS AN APPOINTMENT THAT CANNOT BE MISSED
You wouldn't miss an important meeting with your boss or team, right!? Give your workouts this same respect. Most likely there will be consequences if you miss an important meeting or deadline at work - think of your workouts in the same way. Consequence of missing workouts?? Poor food decisions, weight gain, less confidence in yourself, clothes not fitting how you want them to, an more...
Schedule your workouts into your calendar just like you would any other appointment! ;) 

FIND AN ACCOUNTABILITY BUDDY
At the end of the day, we know ourselves pretty well. With that being said, if you know your going to have a hard time showing up for your workouts, find a friend, set a schedule and have that friend hold you accountable. Of course, you need to make sure this friend isn't the type of person to cancel on you and you actually get work done vs. your "workout" turning into social hour. 

TAKE A GROUP CLASS VS. SOLO WORKOUT
A group class is a fantastic way to get & stay motivated! Even I have my days where I just don't feel like going it alone at the gym & need that extra little push! For me, there's nothing like a fun & fast moving, music-thumping, heart-pumping group class to get me amped up - its a seriously  ahhh-mazing way to get those endorphins flowing! One of my favorite classes is my boxing class at East Coast Fighter. If your local, I cannot recommend this class enough - it is awesome & will challenge you every time! TREAT YOURSELF TO SOME NEW WORKOUT CLOTHES
Cute, new active wear is without a doubt a motivator to get your butt moving! There is just something about getting new workout clothes, right!?  I get so pumped when I get a new pair of sneakers, leggings and/or a couple fun, new tanks! Naturally, you want to look & feel your best in your new gear and the best way to do this is to stay fit & healthy by eating clean, wholesome foods + maintaining a consistent workout routine! 

GET OUTSIDE (preferably on a sunny day)
Layer up or really bundle up (depending on just how cold it is where you are) and get outside on a sunny day and put that body in motion!! A power walk, jog, bike ride, whatever you enjoy - just get that blood flowing and try to stay in the sunniest spots! If one side of the street is in the shade & the other is in the sun, you can find me on the sunny side - I literally chase the sun! This is my tricky little way of making myself feel like I'm somewhere warm! (LOL) Am I the only one who does this!? Even if its chilly outside, there's nothing like fresh air & sunshine, my loves! When you get back inside, you'll feel all toasty & happy that you got out and got moving. Also, this is just a nice switch up from the gym/studio.

EAT CLEAN & KEEP AWAY FROM PROCESSED CARBS & SUGARS. 
I know we're talking about working out here, but I couldn't help but include this important tip! If your not already privy to this... food, particularly the unhealthy, processed kind, has a strong connection with how you feel about yourself - physically & emotionally. During the winter months, we naturally shift away from the lighter foods that we crave during the warmer months of the year - fruits, veggies, green smoothies, salads, lean meats - and go towards those comfort foods that often come in the form of processed carbs, sugar & empty calories. Stay on track during the Winter by continuing to eat those light & healthy foods, and, when your craving something warm & cozy, stick with complex carbs like oatmeal, quinoa, lentils, sweet potatoes & such that nourish your body & soul. I promise, come Spring you'll be much happier with your decision keep.it.clean!

20 Threader Earrings I'm Loving Right Now

When it comes to jewelry, I'm all about simple, dainty & minimal pieces - they just speak to me.  And, when it comes to earrings...oh man, do I have a [major] thing for dainty, dangly pull through/threaders!
These silver pearl threader earrings are the newest addition to my collection (I got them on my cruise) and I absolutely love them! I believe what drew me to them was the pearls - they are Mallorcan Pearls - since Adam and I vacationed in Mallorca 2 summers ago, I guess that's why I adore them so much! Mallorca is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been - add it to your list of travels! ;) You can see another favorite pair of pull through earrings here - they are just the simplest, gold drop earrings - a gift from my mom & I hold them near & dear.

Little Black Romper

{ I got these pull through earrings with Mallorcan Pearls on our cruise & I love them so!! }

Hey there, beauties!! Can we talk about  this little black romper from Abercrombie!?  I am currently crazy for it! I'm in love with the sequin stripes! I also love the deep V neck line, showing off the perfect amount of skin. 
Did I mention it's on [major sale] for $35!! For sizing reference, I am 5'10" and wearing a Size 6. I actually originally ordered it in a 4, taking into account my height + long torso and that was still way too short for my length -the Size 6 fits perfect! Worth mentioning, I am usually a size 2! Isn't it crazy a how different clothes/sizes can run!? 
I don't know about you guys, but a short & sexy black romper is totally my vibe. Don't get me wrong, a LBD (Little Black Dress) is great & all, but you guys know my go-to style leans towards casual & comfort, so a romper is kinda like the best of both worlds - cute, chic & comfy!  If you ever find yourself in Tortola, BVI, I highly recommend hopping a taxi and spending the day at Josiah's Bay.
 
Adam & I love finding beaches that aren't too "touristy" and this is exactly what we had in mind. Just a 20 minute taxi ride and we found ourselves feeling like one of the locals in what we quickly found out is a surfer's paradise! This caftan coverup from Lilly Pulitzer was THEE perfect garb for our day that felt as if we were secluded on our own tropical island! I think we saw just 20 people the whole day... 
when we first arrived to the beach, it actually had just finished raining. We strolled the strand, sipped our scrumptious frozen cocktails made of Rum & Guava at the beach bar and finally, the sun came out which meant it was time to slip out of my cover-up and into the sea!

Motivation Monday: Run Happy

Hello my loves! Happy Monday! Hoping the week is off to a stellar start for you all!
Rather than the usual Workouts this Week Post, I'm switching it up with this special Motivation Monday post! 
Last week was amazing & exhausting in all the most wonderful ways. We just returned to Charlotte last Thursday evening (Feb. 2nd) after our incredible 10 day cruise to celebrate dad's 65th birthday! I worked for a bit on Friday and for the weekend, I had to sit in a Post Licensing class for Real Estate from 830am-5pm both Saturday & Sunday. I get to do it all over again this weekend, too! Wee...

If your wondering about the Run Happy part of this post...let me explain! :) I am so NOT a runner. Like, at all. Running has never come easy to me but I've always been enamored with the idea of running. I've always watched in awe of those people who seem as if they could just run for days, whether it be outdoors or on the treadmill. Adam happens to be one of those people. He runs so beautifully & effortlessly and he's definitely being an inspiration to me. During 2016 I really worked on my running and have made SO much progress, you guys! On my (long) list of To Do's for Le Blog is to share some tips & tricks for how I've gotten stronger & more efficient with my runs. I can't believe I am able to sit here and say/type this, but I have even grown to love running. What!? Who am I!?  

Last Tuesday and Wednesday were our last 2 days on our cruise, which were both sea days. We woke up, got in our coffee & a delicious brekkie & headed to the gym! This way I knew I could enjoy my day, having fun in the sun and not worry about feeling tired from the sun and/or have a couple drinks and then never get around to my workout. Just get up & get it over with, loves! No excuses ;) And yes, even on vacation - you'll feel so much better for it!

Tuesday. 1.31
I had what might have been one of my best runs ever! I don't know if it was my egg whites + giant bowl of oatmeal & berries or what, but I did an hour on the treadmill and it felt SO good. The first 2 miles = power walking on an incline and the next 2.5 = running + I worked some incline intervals into the mix! I know 2.5 miles isn't anything crazy but like I said, I'm not a runner. So for me, that was a good distance & I have to say, I'm proud of myself! 

{ the gym on the ship was amazing! I wish I could workout here everyday. Floor to ceiling windows overlooking the ocean as far as the eye can see. So beautiful, peaceful & inspiring }

Cardio / 30 Minutes / Treadmill
mix of power walks & runs....my legs were tired and I was just plain pooped from our trip & travel #HolidayHangover
I did a quick circuit, just one round before my 1pm client came in...

Real Estate Class ALLLLL Day

Monday. 2.6.
After resting all weekend, I woke up this morning ready to go! With way too much coffee in my system, I headed to the gym before work with the plan to do a repeat of last Tuesday's treadmill sesh! It wasn't quite as long as last week, but I got in 4 miles in 45 minutes and my legs were pretty dead, to be honest!
First 2 miles, I did .25 mile incline walk on an 8 incline / .25 mile run at 6.5-7.0
I ran 2 miles and worked in some inclines just like I did on the cruise. 

If your like me and running just doesn't come easily, but you have a desire to run, one of my best tips would be to simply start running! Set small goals, reach them, set some more & keep attaining from there! Consistency is key in making progress - just keep pushing, breathing, moving, sweating & believing in yourself & you will get there!
