A couple weeks ago, Adam and I hopped in the car on Sunday afternoon for a little impromptu trip to Charleston. A handful of Adam’s best friends are working on an HBO Pilot, on that Friday evening, Adam received a couple emails asking if he would be available to shoot a couple days. He was + I had a pretty open beginning of the week, so I told him I’d love to take the drive down with him!
Out of all the traveling Adam and I have done together over the last 4 years, we have never been to Charleston together, which is kind of crazy considering its just a 3{ish} hour drive down. With that being said, I was super excited for our little getaway.
We arrived in Charleston early Sunday evening, drove over the bridge and straight to Sullivans Island. Starving, we parked the car and immediately made our way to The Obstinate Daughter to fill our bellies with yummy food & drinks. We finished dinner just in time to walk down to the beach and catch the sunset…
Monday morning came bright and early for Adam. 5am wake up, 7am call time. I spent the day snapping pictures, roaming around Rainbow Row and beyond + checked out two spots that were on my radar – One Broad Street and Basic Kitchen.
this heirloom + burrata salad at One Broad Street was amazing. the tomatoes had so much flavor and the burrata {hiding under the bread} was perfect!
snaps from rainbow row…
I walked up an appetite and made my way to Basic Kitchen…
An iced matcha + Paleo Bowl at Basic Kitchen made for the perfect late lunch! I hung out for quite a bit – I snagged a great spot by the window – such a cute space to hang out in, with round cafe tables & the window side is a banquette with oversized, floral pillows. I made my way back to the hotel just before 5pm, hung out by the pool, got in a good workout {so I could eat more yummy food for dinner} and by the time I was done, Adam was home from his day….
We showered up and walked down the street for a delicious dinner full of Parisian vibes at
Felix Cocktails et Cuisine.
we started with the Lobster Deviled Eggs {the picture didn’t turn out so great}, this salade and omg, the most delectable chicken liver mousse. We split the pan-seared poisson and the petite steak-frites for our main dishes.
Tuesday morning, we slept in and walked down the block to grab some coffee at Revelator Coffee. We walked around for a bit, {I basically melted in the humidity} then we headed back to the hotel to get ready to head back to Sullivan’s Island to grab some lunch and hit the beach for the afternoon!
We grabbed lunch at Poe’s Tavern, grabbed a few provisions across the street @ Middle Street Market {such cute market} and made our way down to the water…
fish tacos for the boy. tuna steak salad for moi at Poe’s.
After the beach, we rinsed off and were bed bugs until about 8pm. We couldn’t figure out where we wanted to eat, but finally decided on FIG { Food Is Good} and wow, was their food…GOOD. One of the best meals…truly, a knock-your-socks off kind of meal.
the light was so low, most of the photos didn’t turn out very shareable. {lol} so you’ll just have to take my word for it and go for yourself if/when you find yourself in Charleston!
So, there ya have it! Everything we did and ate for are short but sweet Charleston trip! I did doing some vlogging, but I’ve been so busy with work, I haven’t had a chance to edit it together yet. I will update this post with the Vlog soon, so check back for that!
Adam and I wrapped up our long weekend saying how we could definitely see ourselves living in this charming, beach town.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be!? Let me know if the comments below. xx
Have the best weekend!
