Happy Friday, friends.
whew, we’ve made it thru another week of quarantine life.

I mentioned in Monday’s post that I still can’t believe we’ve been under this lockdown for 6 weeks and, even longer, depending on where you are in the world….
That said, this Covid Quarantine is a trying time for so many people and on so many levels. I miss going about my normal day to day, but on the flip side, I find myself feeling thankful at the same time. Life passes us by so quickly — every week, month, year – flies by faster & faster. Most of us complain about never having the time to do this & to do that. Well, quarantine has given us the precious gift of time. Focusing on the negative doesn’t make anything better and it certainly doesn’t change anything. So, you might as well think positively and focus on what you CAN control and that is your mindset and how you choose to spend your days. I hope this post brightens your day and inspires you to fill your days with the little things that bring you joy.
Make The Most of The Sunny Days
I truly thrive when the sun is shining. It’s amazing how my energy, motivation and mindset can be so different on a sunny day compared to a grey & rainy day. We’re human. We all have bad, not-so-productive days. And during these tough times, the number of those days might be higher, but it doesn’t have to be and it’s up to you to make that choice. And it is a choice that we all make when we are blessed to wake up each & every day.
If your anything like me, the sun has the ability to lift your spirits and change your outlook on life and make you feel like you can conquer the world. Whereas, a grey day makes you want to lay around in your sweatpants all day and ya know, #NetflixandChill. Am I right!? Not every day is going to be our best work, but that’s okay. If your anything like me, you can relate to what I’m saying here. So…make the most of the sunny days. ✨
FaceTime a Friend / Family Member
I’ve always been a huge fan of FaceTime but during this lockdown, I’ve been really taking advantage of FaceTime even more. I am lucky that my whole family lives locally and we have gotten together to see each other, responsibly, however, it is much less than normal. I FaceTime my mom & dad, my sister and my best friends. I’ve even being doing FaceTime workouts with one of my best friends who recently had a baby and it’s helping her get back in shape, post baby. It’s amazing how technology can make us feel so connected even when we are far apart. That said, pick up the phone and FaceTime a friend or loved one today. If you don’t have FaceTime you can use WhatsApp or even a simple phone call will do just to let someone know you are thinking about them. For someone who is living alone, this can really brighten their day.
Move Your Body
You guys know I am huge advocate of living a healthy lifestyle. Working out and simply moving your body will improve your mood & make you feel so much better! It doesn’t matter what you do, just move and breathe. I promise, you will be so glad you got moving! For those of you who always complain about not having the time to workout, now is your time.
Get outside and walk, jog, run, ride a bike, roll out your yoga mat to stretch, take advantage of one of the hundreds of free exercises classes being offered all over the internet. Find the motivation to workout at home. Start a plank challenge, a push up and/or squat challenge. Do something to make yourself healthier, better, stronger during this time.
I can’t tell you how many people have seem to come out of the woodwork during this lockdown. Adam and I are constantly out walking and we have seen so many people, that we have never seen before, getting out and being active in our neighborhood. Everyone’s yard is looking beautiful, too! {lol} I personally think it’s wonderful and I hope it continues once life goes back to normal.
Read a Book
Reading can sometimes feel like one of life’s guilty pleasures. Like, who am I to sit down and read when I have so much to get done? But during these slower times, I’ve been waking up and reading almost every morning. Even if it’s just for 15 minutes or so. I’ve always been a fan of motivational reads and I think there’s no better time to read something that inspires you to be the best version of yourself than right now. I am also really into home decor and design books right now.
Sharing a few of my favorite reads below…
Self Love Club
I am all about some self love and pampering. Everything in this post is a form of self love, really. But I’m talking about carving out some time in your day to be still and connect with yourself – mind, body & spirit.
- MEDITATE. even if you don’t have a meditation practice. start by just sitting quietly, eyes closed and breathe deeply for 5 minutes. increase from there.
- BE WITH NATURE. sit outside and feel the sun on your face. go for a walk without your phone and just listen to the birds singing, the wind in the trees and find gratitude for all the good things in your life.
- TAKE A BATH. get some bath salts, bubbles, light a candle, pour a glass of wine, put on some relaxing music and enjoy some tub time.
- SELF MASSAGE. In Ayruveda, there is a self massage practice called Abhyanga. Abhyanga is a full body massage performed with warm body oil that has SO many amazing mind/body benefits such as increased circulation, stimulating your organs, better digestion, calms your mind & nerves + so many more…
- AT HOME FACIAL. Get yourself a sheet mask followed by all your favorite skin care products – serum, moisturizer & eye cream. You’ll wake up glowing in the morning.
- when all else fails pour yourself a glass of wine and nibble on some dark chocolate. 😉
Wishing everyone a beautiful weekend. XO
Yes, I feel during COVID 19 we are all forced to be creative and find old ways to be happy! Great post.
