5 Tips: Healthy, Happy Morning

Hiya loves! I’m excited to share 5 super simple ways to propel you into your day full of all things happy & healthy! Below is a list of 5 things that are a part of my morning, on the daily.

Yes, I know, this is just so silly/corny/cliché — but I am here to tell you that you absolutely can & do control your thoughts. This is one of my favorite quotes, ever…

When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive—to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love—then make that day count!

— Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

Whether you believe it or not (if you don’t, its time to change your way of thinking) each & every day is a gift & you decide what to make of it! So why not choose happy!? Looking back on my mid 20’s, where I was in a terrible, heart-breaker of a relationship, I was pretty consumed by negative thoughts. After several years of being, well… miserable, I finally chose HAPPY. It all began with eliminating the negative, toxic relationships and situations that were in my life — from there, everything just got…better.
Think positive, self-loving thoughts daily (like, all day), give being single a go, travel, change your perspective, pursue your passions, open your mind, open your heart, practice yoga, build a deeper relationship with YOU, exercise daily, start a meditation practice, find a few positive affirmations to repeat to yourself & nourish your body, mind & soul with wholesome foods filled with Prana.

I basically drink water around the clock — literally! I go to bed with a glass of water on the nightstand & the first thing I do in the morning, is reach over to drink whatever is left that I didn’t drink in my sleep. As soon as I get downstairs, the morning is full of coffee/water/coffee/water…
Water first thing in the morning, along with my next little tip, helps to jump start your metabolism & get your digestive fire ignited! Get in the habit of carrying a PBA Free or Glass Water Bottle with you (my favorite & always by my side is a BKR Bottle) and just.keep.drinking throughout your day…. doing so, will prevent physical & mental fatigue, keep you hydrated, curb appetite, stimulate your metabolism, rid your body of unwanted toxins & help with workout recovery time.
– avoid drinking super cold water (they say room temperature & warm liquids are better for your tumtum)
– drink less water/liquids right before/during/after meals, which slows down the digestive process

Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day! It sets the tone for your day ahead, providing your body & mind with the energy it needs to take on the world! I LOVE breakfast, however, breakfast foods can & are unfortunately some of The Worst foods you can eat!! Its up to you to choose the right foods to fire up your metabolism & start your day off on the right foot…
I rotate thru this list of some of my breakfast faves…
– green or fruit smoothies
– oatmeal
– breakfast bowls (typically goat yogurt, fruit & all the superfoods)
– chia pudding
– eggs + veggies
Pop on over to my breakfast spot for loads healthy ideas!

Start your day with a little kick! Try adding some of my favorite spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric or cayenne pepper to your morning routine. Each one of these spices go to work to naturally energize you, stabilize blood sugar, lower blood pressure, decrease inflammation, stimulate digestion & speed up your metabolism,  just to name a few! A couple ways I easily add these super spices to my morning routine:
– coffee + cinnamon
– ginger, cinnamon and/or turmeric in my smoothies (just depends on what I’m blending up!)
– dash or 2 of cayenne on my eggs
– cinnamon and/or nutmeg in my oatmeal

This list just wouldn’t be complete without a little ACV! (LOL) I basically start every day of my life with about 2 Tablespoons of ACV + small amount of filtered water and just down it quickly. I know the jury is still out about just HOW amazing ACV is/isn’t for you, but personally speaking, I feel so much better with Apple Cider Vinegar in my life — particularly, my stomach. ACV helps to get things moving, so to speak, helping to digest foods easier, especially starchy ones.
It also helps to stabilize blood sugar + boost your immune system.
– I only use Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar with the “Mother” — the mother is where you get the health benefits & probiotics from.
– do not drink vinegar straight — it is acidic and doing so can hurt your esophagus & your tooth enamel. Dilute it with water and don’t over do it. As I wrote above, 2 tablespoons + about 4 oz. of water.

Hope this little list is helpful in cultivating new, healthy, happy habits! Take small steps towards  reaching goals, slowly incorporating 1-2 new things everyday until it simply becomes a part of your daily lifestyle.

Much Love,
