Big Sur,
You are pure magic. ✨
My sweet friends Heather & Sean got married in Big Sur last month, and they truly couldn’t have chosen a more magical place for family & friends to gather together and share in their special day.
We flew in & out of San Francisco and the drive to Big Sur was about 3 hours. Once we got out of the city and off the interstate, the drive was crazy beautiful. We drove through gorgeous redwood forests, beaches, cliffs, sand dunes, amazing properties and it just so happened to be golden hour, which made the drive that much more amazing.
WHERE I STAYED.
Lucia Lodge. simple & quaint, Lucia Lodge has just 10 rooms/cottages and like many properties in Big Sur, is perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. I had some of the most peaceful and beautiful mornings waking up here. Definitely a no frills kind of place, but it was perfect for the trip and super convenient for going back and forth to the wedding venue, which was 10 miles up the road.
WEDDING VENUE.
Wind & Sea Estate. The bride & groom + their family stayed at the Wind & Sea Estate which also doubled as the wedding venue. Everything about this place was perfect — the house was awesome & large enough to more than accommodate all the guests for the wedding festivities, the ocean views and sunsets were incredible and, the beautiful bride & groom said their vows with the Pacific Ocean as their backdrop.
WHERE WE ATE.
Nepenthe. super cool, laid back restaurant built into the side of a cliff with yummy food & amazing views.
COAST Big Sur. a few of us ate lunch here after a little trek to go check out McWay Falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. This is such a cool & unique spot with an art gallery + a rooftop cafe serving salads, sandwiches and other yummy eats.
Zelda’s On the Beach. About an hour into our drive from San Fran to Big Sur, we stopped to grab some lunch at this cool beach front restaurant. Definitely sit outside and take in the views of the Monterey Bay. I had the Blackened Ahi Tuna Salad – so fresh & delish!
The rest of the main meals were at the wedding venue for the rehearsal dinner + wedding night dinner.
Hope you enjoyed the post!
If you’ve never been to Big Sur, I cannot recommend it enough. It really is a gem of a place.
