Hiiiii! Hope your week is off to a great start! As much as I LOVE to travel, I am happy to be home and back in my routine of work, healthy eating & workouts. It just what makes me feel good!
Just a little spiel about getting your workout in, whatever that may be for you (running, yoga, a spin class, lifting, etc) even when your tired and feel like you just don’t have the energy to push through a workout. I’m writing about this because I’ve experienced that “I’m so tired” feeling both yesterday and again today but pushed that blah feeling to the side and drove my ass to the gym any way. I winded up having an amazing workout and feeling so energetic BOTH days. Monday, I was just getting back into the swing of things from being away in Chicago all weekend where I let go, enjoyed life and ate and drank more than I normally do. Today, the combination of some work stress and shit weather made me feel a little blah again…Needless to say, I am so happy I didn’t let my mind talk me into not working out.
We all have our days when time is a little tight, stress may be a little higher or your just simply feeling tired. Any time I feel this way, 9 times out of 10 I workout any way. Whether its yoga, boxing, a gym sesh… every. single. time. I feel like a million bucks afterwards! I’m sure you’ve all heard that working out actually gives you energy and it is 100% true! So next time your feeling like you want to skip your workout….take yourself to the gym any way! Trust me, you’ll be so proud of yourself when its all done! 😉
Quickly catching you up on my food & workouts for the last couple days….
Monday Workout: Cardio Only. Just wanted to SWEAT out my Chicago weekend! haha Ran 25 minutes of intervals on the Woodway/20 minutes on StairMaster. (alternating single & double steps, 2 minutes of each)
Monday Eats: I ate super light all day Monday. 2 Smoothies, lots of veggies and lean protein. Was feeling kinda gross from indulging over the weekend.
Simple Green Smoothie for Breakfast. Large handful of Super Greens mixture, banana, kiwi & 2 slices of pineapple, water & ice…Blend & Enjoy!
Breakfast for Lunch! 2 Egg omelette w/ greens & tiny bit of cayenne sprinkled in. Sliced gala apple on the side.
Annnnd! Another smoothie late afternoon (445ish). I’ll be posting this recipe later in the week! SO good.
Dinner: Clean Eats. Spinach Salad w/ onions, tomato, avocado & chicken breast on top.
Tuesday Workout: 20 min intervals on Woodway. 2 rounds of full body circuit. 15 minutes on StairMaster. Circuit:
– 1 minute x 2: Squat/Press with resistance band around ankles (Checkout my FB Page to see a vid of this move)
– Push Ups (toes) 10 x 2
– Glute Kickbacks: 20 x 2
– Triceps, db kickbacks: 20 x 2 (on all 4’s with opposite leg lifted….this really works the core)
Tuesday Eats:
Green Smoothie: Kale (about a handful, stemmed) & spinach (handful) banana, lemon juice, apple (cored & peeled), cinnamon, water & ice! 2 eggs, scrambled in coconut oil.
Lunch: Chicken & Sauerkraut. I LOVE sauerkraut and its so healthy for you…loaded with probiotics. Eat up!
Post Workout Smoothie: this was so yummy! Tasted like a dessert, really. Frozen blueberries, & mango chunks, tspn almond butter, cinnamon, raw vanilla protein powder, ground flaxseed & raw cacao powder.
Big Salad after I taught yoga tonight. More spinach, raw beets, tomatoes & red onion.
That sums up my last couple of days. Hope you are all taking care…. mind, body & heart. Make the time for the things that put a smile on your face. I posted this quote on my FB page this morning, but wanted to share here as well….
“We can be spacious, yet full of loving kindness; full of compassion, yet serene. Live like the strings of a fine instrument — not too taut and not too lose”. I especially like the second part of this quote…to me, its a good daily reminder to practice The Art of Non-Reaction.
Much Love,
LS
