I wrapped up my Tuesday afternoon with a super fun stop into Lotus Boutique to do some outfit planning for a Charity Fashion Show I am helping out with at the end of this month.I haven’t been in the store in forever and will definitely be going back to do some shopping — so many cute, colorful Spring pieces — I wish I had time to stay and shop. But, by the time we got done with outfits & accessories, I needed to get outta there in hopes of avoiding traffic, get home in time to eat & make it yoga on time.
So, all this girly fun and excitement over clothes, accessories & fashion show is great and all, but what’s even better and more important, is the reason behind why this event is evening happening in the first place.
On Valentine’s Day, I received this heartbreaking message from a gf of mine, Linda…
So, that thread really say’s it all. We are putting on this fashion show for a wonderful cause to raise money + everyone attending will be bringing/donating a pair of shoes for the children at Tuckaseegee Elementary. I could not be happier to be a part of this event! Linda, is the owner of Heels.com (which will be providing shoes for the show, naturally) and Lotus, providing the clothing.
I am so incredibly fortunate in my life and have so much — I live a life of abundance, no doubt. It is such a wonderful feeling to be able to give back even in the smallest form, such as volunteering my time and donating shoes to these children. I mean, I’m willing to bet that most of us don’t even think twice as we slip our feet into one of our several pairs of shoes as we get ready to go about our day. I know I don’t. I sit there and think about what pair of shoes will look best with my outfit that day…
If you’d like to donate a pair of shoes for the little ones and/or make a monetary donation towards this wonderful cause, here is more information on our event. Every little bit helps.
ABOUT OUR EVENT
We are currently seeking new or gently used shoe donations for the students at Tuckaseegee Elementary located near the Charlotte International Airport. There are donation boxes located at several locations throughout Charlotte, such as: My Gym, Lotus Boutique and Little Otters Swim School. We are accepting shoe donations through
Friday, March 21, 2014
. These shoes are for elementary aged students from kindergarten (age 5) up to fifth grade (or age 11-12). Shoe sizes will vary and can be for either boys or girls. If you wish to make a monetary donation instead of shoes, please contact Linda McCoy at
.
Tuckaseegee Elementary is a Title 1 school and more than 90 percent of the students are on the meal program. Their families are working hard to provide for them on a daily basis and one pair of new shoes per year might be their only option. A teacher brought to our attention that in the last few weeks most of the students did not have shoes that fit or didn’t have holes in them. Very hard for most of us to hear especially when we had 6 inches of snow on the ground. So many of these students show up at school with shoes that have holes, have their toes poking through, or they push the back heel of the shoe down to make the shoe a clog in order for it to fit properly. We are trying to do a little something to make a difference and help these students. A new pair of shoes can really make a difference! We will greatly appreciate any and all donations.
Here are some of my outfits for the show! If your local, be sure to check out Lotus Boutique in The Metropolitan for some fun, on trend styles. You can pop into the store to donate a pair of shoes and do a little shopping for yourself as well!
Much Love,
LS
Alright you guys know my love of bright & beautiful colors! I love this outfit all on its own, BUT these bright, eclectic accessories + bag really made it POP. My eyes lit up when they brought all these stackable bracelets over!
Navajo Vibes
This outfit is pretty awesome and I love this burnt orange necklace.
So excited to wear this lacy Spring dream of an outfit. Kinda feminine, boho & whimsical all wrapped into one outfit.
Really simple babydoll dress with a little pop of color in the scarf (we tied 2 together to make it extra chunky) plus wrap bracelets & funky earrings. voilà.
