Its no secret I’m a big fan of smoothies — especially my green babies! Now that the weather has finally warmed I am back to making more & more of my yummy blends so keeping things fresh & exciting in the smoothie department is a must!
Rather than always drinking my smoothie its fun to switch it up & create a smoothie bowl loaded with all kinds of delicious and so-good-for-you toppings like extra fruit & my fave superfoods like chia seeds, hemp seeds or cacao nibs! YUM!!
I made this seriously scrumptious Green Smoothie Bowl last week that was so satisfying & filling!
Green Smoothie Superfood Breakfast Bowl
Green Smoothie Base:
– 2 handfuls, organic baby kale or baby spinach
– 1 frozen banana
– 1 cup organic frozen mango chunks
– about 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk or milk of your choice
Toppings:
– unsweetened coconut
– raw cacao nibs, 2 tablespoons
– 1 ripe banana
– organic frozen red grapes
– chia seeds, 2 tablespoons
This is just what I used. Feel free to use whatever you love or have in the house! I definitely make sure to use a topping like hemp or chia seeds which provide your body with protein, fiber & omega-3’s + make this bowl even more filling!
I’m currently loving these frozen red grapes and they make for a delicious and so-simple snack if your craving something sweet. Just pull out a handful and stick ’em in a ramekin to munch on. Red grapes are loaded with fiber, antioxidants & reseveratrol to help fight off those damaging free-radicals to keep you young & gorge — and ya know, they are better for you than drinking wine. 😉
PS: Getting the consistency for a smoothie bowl can be a little tricky. Obviously, you want it to be thicker than if you were making a smoothie to drink…after all, you are eating this with a spoon! lol You may have to pop the lid off a couple times to give your green base a little help in the blender because it will want to get stuck with the frozen fruit. Just add a tiny bit more liquid at a time until you get your desired consistency!
This gorgeous green bowl is packed with health & beauty boosting vitamins & minerals, fiber, antioxidants, protein & omega-3s — grab your spoon & eat up!! xx
