new hair, who dis!?
Hi friends! I am so excited to share today’s post with you!
On March 1 I got Hair Botox and it has literally changed my life! No, seriously. haha
Anyone who has naturally curly hair and doesn’t love it will totally understand this sentiment. If you’re a long time reader/follower, I’m sure you’ve seen my natural curls at some point in time. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my curls for my entire life that definitely leans more towards the hate side of the relationship. lol I’ve tried & failed at learning to love & accept my curls… at the end of the day, I just don’t love ’em and I simply don’t feel like my normal, confident self whenever I let my hair dry naturally and let the curls be free, as I say. lol
Enter Hair Botox. I heard about Hair Botox from my friend Anna last year but never actually went and had it done. As March was approaching, I figured it was the perfect time to finally book an appointment to try out this treatment I’ve heard such good things about. As soon as spring sets in, the humidity isn’t too far behind which means frizzy, poofy hair all spring/summer season. Even after I not only take the time to style my hair, but even worse, put all that heat on it from the blow dryer, flat iron, curling iron….all just to walk outside and poof – all that damage, for nothing! Ugh
What Exactly Is Hair Botox?
First off, Hair Botox is not a Keratin Treatment. I’ve of course known about Keratin for as long as it’s been around, but I’d rather live with my curls for the rest of my life than cover my head in all the chemicals, which includes formaldehyde, that are contained in a Keratin Treatment. yikes. For me, the biggest appeal to Hair Botox is the fact that it is free of any chemicals and, the AMAZING results, of course! Hair Botox smooths & plumps up your hair by filling in any gaps in your hairs natural fiber. The treatment is essentially a super hydrating/deep-conditioning hair mask that is filled with hair smoothing vitamins, peptides & amino acids. This website does a good job explaining more in depth about hair botox.
My personal results with the treatment have been amazing! My hair is super soft, smooth, shiny & frizz free!! I have been letting my hair dry naturally much more often and actually love the way it looks. My usual, tight & crazy curls are much more relaxed and not frizzy, at all. When I style my hair, other than the blow dryer, I put very minimal heat on my hair with a flat iron or curling iron compared to before I had Hair Botox. Beforehand, I’d dry my hair and it would still be so poofy and not smooth at all. I’d put so much additional heat on my hair with the flat iron + curling iron, and again, during the humid months of the year, literally for nothing. Honestly, I could probably get away with just drying my hair with a round brush and not doing anything else to it — that’s how smooth it is post Hair Botox.
Where I Went, Cost + How Long Does The Treatment Last?
- I got Hair Botox with Crystle Monero. You can follow her on Instagram @vainandluxe to check out several Hair Botox before/after’s. Crystle works at Copper Willow Salon which just recently moved to brand new, gorgeous space in Wesley Heights! Visit this page to make an appointment. Click on Crystle’s name to view a list of all of her services which include hair extensions, Curl Botox and a few different options for Hair Botox.
- I got the full Hair Botox treatment which costs $275.00 and you can expect to spend about 2.5-3 hours in the salon. Hair Botox Express costs $225.00 and takes about 1.5 hours. Since I have super curly hair and really wanted to relax them, I went for the full treatment and left it in my hair for 1.5 hours. Chat with Crystle about your desired results to choose the best option for you.
- The treatment last for approximately 3 months and it is recommended that you use sulfate free hair care products to extend the life of the treatment.
In the last couple months, I’ve been to the beach (usually a disaster for my hair) been out in the rain, super humid days, got super sweaty working out and through it all my hair still looks so sleek & smooth. If your looking for a natural way to 1. relax your curls 2. get rid of frizz than I can’t recommend Hair Botox enough!
Feel free to shoot me an email or a DM if you have any questions! xx
