The summer season is full of sun, fun, energy & activity. Much Love, Health & Happiness,
SCHEDULE IT OUT
I recently wrote a post touching upon this….my workouts are an appointment that I make (and KEEP) with myself. They are just as important as me showing up to train my clients. Sundays are a wonderful (and my favorite) day for planning out the week ahead. Take the time get your week in order – sit down with your calendar & schedule your workouts for times that fit in with the rest of your work/life obligations for the week. Make it a priority and do not miss it! I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t skip out on an important meeting at work…give your workouts that same accord.
MAKE YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE
There’s nothing worse than the feeling that comes along with telling someone (or yourself) that your going to do something and not following thru.
A few ideas to hold yourself accountable with your re-found health & fitness goals:
– Set a workout date with a friend that you wouldn’t want to let down
– Get a little friendly fitness competition going with a fun prize (money, gift certificates for new activewear or class pass to yoga studio) for an extra incentive
– Share your progress on Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, etc…)
– Track your workouts with a helpful fitness band like the Fit Bit
– Keep a F&F (food & fitness) Journal.
If you’ve never kept a journal before, you’ll be surprised at how much more mindful you become when you see what your eating in writing.
MIX IT UP
Keep your workouts fresh, fun & effective by mixing in different types of movement throughout the week! You guys know I am a HUGE advocate of cross training. Cross training is THE way to train, guys! These days your workout options are endless! Always workout in the gym or run on a treadmill? Get outside! Its incredible how much work a treadmill does for you! I promise you, working out outdoors will activate different muscles in your body that you just do not tap into indoors. Go to a Yoga class, do Pilates, hit up a High Intensity Spin Class (i.e.: Fly Wheel, Soul Cycle, etc…) On the flip side of this bullet point, take a rest day. Giving your body a day off is essential in keeping your body healthy, injury free and performing at its best. Those rest days are just as important as your workouts — without them, you are stressing your body and potentially elevating your stress hormone, cortisol, which can actually have the opposite effect on your body of what your going for — weight gain.
ONE DAY AT A TIME
I’m a big believer in baby steps…
One day at a time.
One workout at a time.
One meal at a time.
Setting giant, unrealistic goals often leads to failure. Rather, focus on the present moment and commit to making small, consistent changes each & every day that add up to great results! The goal is to adopt a healthy, happy lifestyle that is sustainable.
CHANGE YOUR MINDSET
“Workout because you love your body, not because you hate it.”
The most important relationship you’ll ever have in your life is with yourself. Once you learn to love YOU…all the pieces just have this beautiful way of falling into place. Go to bed thinking happy, healthy, self-loving thoughts and wake up in the morning with a positive mindset, ready to take on the day & carry that positivity with you. Tell yourself 5 self-loving things everyday.
Your thoughts create your world…fill your world with healthiness, happiness, love & positivity & know that you are beautiful!
