Our last night in Mallorca could’t have been more beautiful, romantic and just…perfect, really. We took the absolutely beautiful 20-30 minute drive from our hotel just outside Palma, to the village of Puigpunyent where the the majestic Gran Hotel Son Net sits just above, in the hills of the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains.
We happened upon Son Net, just that afternoon while Adam was perusing the {European} Michelin Restaurants App that we had downloaded a couple days before. After some searching + review reading, A made us reservations for that night. Needless to say, my babe did well! I couldn’t think of a more gorgeous place & setting to bring our truly incredible, special holiday to a close…
In my internet travels, I’ve read that there has been a house on this land for a thousand years, however, the Son Net Estate was originally built in 1672. The land & estate would be considered a finca (a country estate or ranch) and was a working olive farm way back when.
The estate officially opened as a luxury hotel, Gran Hotel Son Net in 1998 after many restorations to both the land & hotel. The olive farm has been revived + a vineyard has been added and the original Olive Press still remains inside the hotels restaurant, Oleum.
These photos seriously don’t even come close to portraying just how gorgeous this place is! I don’t even know how many “Babe, OMG” and “Oh wow’s” came out of my mouth as we drove up to the main entrance of Son Net. If you ever find Mallorca in your travels, definitely try to make this a stop along the way… you won’t be disappointed.
Also, the village of Puigpunyent seemed to be incredibly special, quaint and quiet as we drove thru. I only wish we had discovered this part of Mallorca earlier so we had more time to explore it.
Thanks so much for visiting! Hope you enjoy the post/photos! xx

So happy you stumbled upon Son Net and the truly gorgeous village of Puigpunyent. I used to live in this village 2 years ago and now am living in the city center. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss the peaceful evening walks through the back streets while listening to the bells from the sheep. Magical. Joanna (www.luxurytastemaker.com)
