Hi friends and hello March!
I don’t know about you, but I am so happy to have Jan + Feb behind us. Every year, January & February seem to just drag on forever. Probably because it’s my least favorite time of year — so cold, grey and rainy + just plain depressing.
Mother Nature has already been teasing us with signs of spring and I cannot wait for the change of season. We had a few random warm + sunny days last week and I spent as much time as possible outside. It was glorious.
So I’ve been going back & forth on the idea of starting a weekly favorites series, but I think sharing favorite things I’ve been enjoying on a monthly basis is more realistic for me and my schedule.
For this first entry, I’m combining Jan + Feb together, but from here on out, I’ll be sharing my favorites at the end of each month/beginning of the next month. Also sneaking in a couple favorites that I’ve been using for quite a while but replenished in the last couple months + a couple books that I’ve reopened after leaving them hanging on the shelf for years. I hope you enjoy + discover something new that sparks joy in your life as it does mine. xx
READING
GREENLIGHTS – Matthew McConaughey.
this was such a good & easy read that I couldn’t put down — I finished the book in 4 days. I’ve always been a big Matthew McConaughey fan and I had been looking forward to reading his book. I so enjoyed his collection of stories that he shares in the book from his own life experiences.
WILD SPIRIT, SOFT HEART – BUTTERFLIES RISING.
i have really gotten into poetry recently. After falling in love with all of her poetry posted on Pinterest, I decided to purchase the book.
ALL ALONG YOU WERE BLOOMING – Morgan Harper Nichols.
really beautiful collection of poems. I love to flip to random pages and read a few poems each day.
JOURNEY TO THE HEART – Melody Beattie
a collection of daily meditations that always seem to hit just as you need them to. I’ve had this book for years but recently pulled it back out again.
JESUS CALLING – Sarah Young
daily devotionals that I love to either start or end my day with.
WATCHING
FIREFLY LANE
I absolutely loved this show with Katherine Heigl. I binged it in 3 days. I love the story of their lifelong friendship and can’t wait to see what Season 2 brings.
BRIDGERTON
It took me until episode 3 to really get into this show, but once I did…. omg, so good!
THE CROWN.
Wrapped up Season 4 of The Crown and can’t wait for the next season.
SWEET MAGNOLIAS.
Another show about girlfriends, friendships and life — Loved everything about this show.
VIRGIN RIVER.
oof, what a depressing show. but SO good. I just love Jack & Mel. Season 1 really left us hanging with the ending and I’m dying to see what happens in Season 2!
THIS IS US.
Really enjoying Season 5.
JULIE & JULIA
rewatched this old favorite — such a good movie! I just love both of their characters and it always makes me want to cook more. {lol}
LISTENING
A few new artists + songs I’ve discovered, or, rediscovered on Spotify and really enjoying…
I love almost every song on this album from Juke Ross. I adore his soulful, raspy voice.
*anyone have a mother who loves Carly Simon!? Mine sure does. Coming Around Again played in an episode of Firefly Lane and it instantly transported me back to my childhood. My mom would play Carly in the house and the car, all the time. It’s amazing how music can take you back to a certain place & time. Definitely a few sad songs on this list that were played on repeat for a good 3 months. Happy to report I don’t feel like playing these songs anymore. But if you happen to be going thru a breakup — Driver’s License, A Little Bit Yours & If the World Was Ending definitely hit in some sorta way…
WEARING
MARC FISHER OSHAY POINTED TOE BOOTIE
I wear these neutral booties several times a week. they literally go with everything and the chunky heel makes them super comfortable. come in 5 colors and on major sale at the moment. {sizes are limited}
LEVIS WEDGIE STRAIGH JEANS
I reach for my Levis more than any other pair of denim these days. I love the vintage wash and laid back fit. So cute with sneakers & booties. Gotta love the under $100 price point, too. Sizing Tip: this denim has zero stretch. I wear a size 26.
MADEWELL ROADTRIPPER SKINNY JEANS
And when I’m not wearing my Levis, I can usually be caught wearing these super comfy, perfect-amount-of-stretch black skinny jeans from Madewell.
AQUATALIA COMBAT BOOTS {blog post}
I purchased these in the winter of 2019 and my love for them is still going strong. I’ve worn them to death all winter long and still so happy that I splurged on these. For a more budget friendly option, check out this pair of combat boots from Sam Edelman — they are super cute and similar to mine. You just can’t go wrong with this classic style.
USING
HAIR, BEAUTY + SKIN CARE
Ionic Facial Steamer – Vanity Planet
I have been totally loving this little steamer from Vanity Planet. I use it a least 1x a week and it makes my skin feel so soft, hydrated & smooth.
BLEMISH STICK – Indie Lee
I am obsessed with this handy little blemish stick from Indie Lee. I used up every drop of my last one and just restocked a couple weeks ago. The moment I see a blemish on my face, I use a dab or two of this powerful little stick and the blemish is typically gone in a couple days.
CHANEL – LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW SHEER POWDER
I fell in LOVE with this powder years & years ago and recently came back to it after using a few others that just didn’t match up! I do not wear foundation, only powder, and this gives such a natural looking healthy glow to my face/skin — especially during the winter months when I need a little boost from lack of sunshine. I use No. 40 and it matches my olive complexion perfectly. There are 7 shades to choose from.
MILA MOURSI SKIN CARE
I was gifted 3 products from this new-to-me French skin care line about 6 weeks ago and I have truly fallen in love with this brand. I have been using the Cellular Renewal Cream every single night since the day I received the products in the mail + this Hydrating & Soothing Mask about 3x a week for an extra dose of moisture on top of the renewal cream. Together, these 2 products have honestly transformed my dry winter skin. I have incredibly dry + sensitive skin and these two products alone have literally made my face look & feel so much smoother, softer & more hydrated. I cannot recommend them enough. The 3rd product they shared with me is the Cleansing Milk. Personally, I am not a milk and/or cream cleanser girl bc I wear contacts and it just doesn’t work very well for me when trying to wash off eye makeup & mascara. However, I will use this cleanser when I don’t have any make up on after a workout or to wash away the day. It gentle, smells amazing and leaves my face feeling silky smooth.
JASON SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER
sometimes ya really don’t need to spend a fortune on your shampoo & conditioner. I actually tried only the Long & Strong Conditioner way back in November & loved it so much! I just got the Biotin Shampoo & Conditioner & love both products so much. They seriously make your hair so smooth + looks & feels healthier after just a few uses.
