Dandelion Greens Smoothie
Hey, Hey! Its that time again….
Mixing it up this week, I have new Super Green for you guys to throw into the blender — Dandelion Greens! I have been wanting to use these in a smoothie for a while now and finally picked up a batch at Earth Fare yesterday. A few awesome health facts to share about these powerful greens:
Dandelion Greens Health Benefits
– Rich source of Potassium, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium & B Vitamins
– Super High in Fiber
– Mild diuretic & can help with weight loss –
Detoxing & Cleansing: known to cleanse the liver & purify the blood
– High in Protein: Contain all essential Amino Acids, which make this green a complete protein
– Loaded with Antioxidants
So this is my first time using these greens, and I’ve heard that they can be quite bitter. I started with a pretty small amount of the Dandelion Greens to make sure I’d actually enjoy this smoothie. Along with the Dandelion Greens, I threw in a big handful of organic, baby spinach. (not pictured)
Dandelion Greens Smoothie Recipe
– small handful Dandelions (washed & cut the stems off)
– large handful organic, baby spinach
– 1 ripe banana
– 4 slices pineapple
– 1 lemon, juiced
– Ginger (cut off about 1 inch chunk & peel)
– water & ice
Came out pretty frothy and lots of separation (not much to bind this all together) but I promise it was so good & super refreshing with the lemon / ginger combo. I’ll be adding more dandelions & ginger the next time I mix this up!
Cheers & Happy Sunday! xx
