Hiya & Happy Saturday!
Hoping your weather is better than mine this weekend. Its super rainy & still unseasonably chilly here in CLT. oh wells..
So, I woke up this am, slammed two cups of coffee and then I was off to the gym to get in 60 minutes of stupid sweaty fasted cardio! Whew! I haven’t done fasted cardio in so long it felt so (SO!) gooooood. I left them gym positively drenched in sweat, as if I just walked out of a hot yoga class. Felt ahhhmazing! If you are unfamiliar with fasted cardio, in a nutshell, wake up & go to the gym first thing in the morning to knock out 30-60 minutes of cardio without eating anything prior. Technically, you could also get this cardio in after going without eating for 4 hours but who wants to do that?! In my opinion, I think the morning is the best approach. Added bonus, you have your cardio banged out for the day and you don’t have to worry about getting it in later. Awesome, no!? The benefits of this type of cardio is that your body taps into its fat stores and burns the fat as its fuel vs. glucose when you’ve eaten beforehand. Peace out fat!
Fasted cardio isn’t meant for crazy, HIIT, rather steady state cardio. To not die of boredom I like to mix it up and do a 20/20/20 split. For example, today was:
– 20 minutes: Treadmill: Walk @ 4.2 / 10 Incline
– 20 minutes: StairMaster
– 20 minutes: Precore AMT
So I’m definitely pretty hard on myself and I know my personal best. For some reason, I’ve been feeling like I’m in a bit of a fitness rut and decided to throw a little something new & different at my body to see how she responds. Not only do I love mixing it up because its just fun and keeps things fresh, but this is essential in continuing to meet new fitness goals – for myself and for any of you. If you feel like you’ve hit a plateau try doing something different – this applies to both your nutrition & workouts. Keep the body guessing in order to keep seeing progress.
Super sweaty & rosy cheeks! the best feeling!
aaaaand après sweat sesh eats. I just discovered these new gluten free gems at Harris Teeter the other day and I lOVE em! made these yummy little sandwiches out of them. Almond Butter (unsalted), Chia Seeds, Organic Maple Syrup & Banana. YUM! Fresh grapefruit juice & my Laverne “L” Easter Egg 🙂
A few songs that got me thru my cardio sesh 🙂
PS: I hit the gym with Avocado Oil in my hair. Its like a super hydrating hot oil treatment 😉 talk about multitasking…
Enjoy the day!
Much love – xx
