On Friday morning, Adam & I made a spontaneous decision to book a room at The Kimpton Cardinal Hotel in Winston Salem for NYE. We had explored a few other options – romantic cabin in the mountains, reservations for dinner out in Charlotte, cook a beautiful meal at home – but, a little staycation + ringing in the New Year at The Kimpton took the cake!
The Cardinal Hotel has all the makings of an über cool NYC hotel, except its right here in good ole Winston Salem, NC. The Cardinal came to life inside the historic R.J. Reynolds building in downtown Winston-Salem. The Cardinal Hotel is a grand mix of everything I love – eclectically chic & elegant yet casual & so inviting.
The “Living Room” is a perfect blend of warm-modern while The Katharine Brasserie & Bar is full of old school French feels – oh la la, I totally love it!

How great is this gym!? I wish I could work out here everyday!
Up until our little New Years getaway, I have never spent any time in Winston. How about you guys!? Adam, spent a good chunk of his life in Winston, attending Wake Forrest + N.C. School of The Arts. Before we checked into the hotel, my babe took me for a little tour around the Wake campus, showing me his old stomping grounds as well as nearby Graylyn Estate. On Sunday, before heading back to Charlotte, we drove around downtown Winston + ventured over to Old Salem, a historic district of Winston Salem, that reminded me of a mini Williamsburg, VA – so charming!
Considering we only spent a meer 24 hours in Winston, we didn’t do too much, but, we did have a super fun Saturday night out, popping around to a couple cool spots + discovered a super cute coffee + wine bar and a few other local haunts worth mentioning so I’ll be doing a separate post & sharing some fun photos from our Winston weekend! xx
Much Love,
