In preparation for a Starwood Hotels video in which I was used as the model for a hot stone massage & facial, I had the incredibly tough task of being pampered with a body treatment at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge to ensure that my skin was perfectly smooth & glowy, as the video was shot in HD.
A total girl, I’m a fool for anything having to do with skin & body care, which made this treatment oh so delightful! Thankfully, I’ve been blessed with smooth, clear skin on both my face & body, very rarely having to deal with a blemish, let alone a full on breakout. However, I know that not everyone has been dealt this same good-skin-fortune and dealing with breakouts – whether it be on your face or body – can be embarrassing & make you feel insecure about your appearance, which is the last thing you want to feel about your skin.
For me, proper skin care goes beyond simply caring for the skin on my face. I treat every inch of my body with plenty of TLC which includes moisturizing from head to toe, dry brushing & body scrubs done at home with the occasional, ultimate treat like detoxing & hydrating treatments to keep my skin uber healthy, soft & radiant. Its not just what you put IN your body that is important, but also what you put ON your body as well. Your skin, being your largest organ soaks up anything you apply to it.
The Ballantyne Spa offers several body treatments to choose from depending on your desired outcome. Two treatments highly recommended by both myself and the girls in the spa are the Marine Detox Mud Wrap and Shea Sugar Smoothie Wrap.
Marine Detox Mud Wrap:
This self-heating marine mud soothes tight muscles, joints & tendons. The mud wrap is complete with a refreshing shower and an application of rich body cream. This treatment leaves your body clean & polished.
♡ I adore all things French which means I especially love this incredible body treatment. The seaweed and freeze dried seawater are harvested off the Brittany Coast of France and contains the 2nd highest mineral content in the world. Ooo la la!
Shea Sugar Smoothie Wrap:
A shea butter and sugar scrub removes dead skin cells before your body is enveloped in a honey oat mask. Enjoy a relaxing foot and scalp massage before sk in is hydrated with agave nectar oil & shea butter.
I believe, whole-heartedly, you are what you eat. The condition of your skin is a direct reflection of what’s going on inside. Beautiful, glowing skin comes from taking care & nourishing your body from the inside out. 🙂
A few healthy-skin-from-within tips…
♡ Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. I drink between 3-4 liters of water a day.
♡ When life gives you lemons… I start & end my day several times a week with warm (not hot) water + lemon to cleanse & flush toxins out of my body. Furthermore, I squeeze lemon into my water any chance I get.
♡ Eat your Greens. eat ’em raw, blend, sauté …however you eat them, just get them in. Preferably without dressings, butter, salt, etc… I eat salads & green smoothies on the reg.
♡ Eat the Rainbow. beautiful, colorful fresh fruits & veggies are full of antioxidants & flavonoids for anti-aging & help fight free-radicals.
♡ Super Foods: quite honestly, I’m obsessed with super foods. I cannot live without my goji’s, among others. You can find my must-have’s, here.
