Hello & Happy Monday, loves! Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s weekend! Whether your single or smitten, I hope everyone’s day was filled with love/self-love & happiness! We slipped away to the mountains over night for the most romantical, little Valentine’s getaway.
We hopped in the car on Sunday afternoon to head up to Blowing Rock and stayed at
Gideon Ridge Inn. If your unfamiliar with Gideon Ridge, it is a quaint & cozy, 10 room, luxury Bed & Breakfast located just 2 miles outside of downtown Blowing Rock.
We stayed in the Cedar Cottage which is actually a separate little cabin detached from the Main house. It was so fun to walk down the snowy stairs and feel all snuggled up inside our own private cabin in the woods. The cottage has a gas fireplace which made our stay all the more cozy & romantic.
The bathroom was sweet & simple with double pedestal sinks, plush Frette robes and AVEDA bath products.
After we got all settled in, we headed back up to the Main house to chill out by the fire, partake in Tea Time, which is served between 4-5pm and chatted with some other couples who were staying at the Inn. Tea turned into cocktails and then we were back down to our cottage to shower up and get ready for dinner!
We stayed put for dinner at the Inn. It was pretty awesome to learn that The Restaurant at Gideon Ridge was listed as one of the Top 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in the country for the second year in a row by Opentable.
To start, we shared the Farmer’s Salad & Borscht. After our fab server, Jackson, totally talked up the Tortelloni, we decided to give that a taste, too!
For my entree, I had the Tuna served over a cauliflower, edamame succotash.
Everything was prepared perfectly by Chef Hunter Womble, using local/seasonal ingredients.
We stuck with the “Scoopables” for dessert — house made sorbet & ice cream. Don’t quote me on this, but I believe the sorbet was a raspberry cabernet and the ice cream was a burnt sugar bourbon. But really all that matters is they were fantastic! (LOL)
Breakfast is available in the Main house between 830am – 930am.
Coffee + OJ & Grapefruit Juice was set out to help yourself along with a little set up of Muesli, fresh fruit & yogurts. Off the menu was a small selection of breakfast items to order from the kitchen. I went with scrambled egg whites + a side of steel-cut oats served with dried cranberries, pecans & brown sugar. For my fellow dairy free friends, I was super happy to find that they had almond milk available for my coffee.
Next time you head up to the NC mountains, definitely consider checking into the Gideon Ridge Inn! We had a wonderful time & our Valentine’s Day was lovely. The entire staff were super sweet, friendly & helpful! As always, thanks for visiting! xx
